Ondansetron contains the active substance ondansetron hydrochloride dihydrate. Ondansetron is a selective antagonist of 5-hydroxytryptamine receptors-3 (5-HT3) and belongs to a group of medicines called antiemetics.
Ondansetron is used:
• in the management of nausea and vomiting induced by cytotoxic chemotherapy and radiotherapy;
• in the treatment and prevention of post-operative nausea and vomiting.
